Biberach an der Riß in the Württemberg Oberland is the capital of the beaver, if only because of its name. The idea of crowning it as such arose in autumn 2020 as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. In normal years, this is when the busy phase of preparations for the Biberach Christmas market begins, where we volunteer to sell mulled wine, punch and waffles to fill our donation pot with the proceeds.

As it became increasingly unlikely that the market would take place, we looked for alternatives. Like the city's heraldic animal, we didn't want to be intimidated by a virus and defied the situation with a great idea – Gin Beaver's Crown!
